Service is a hallmark of Scouting - but it can have challenges. Where can you find opportunities for a wide age range? How do you log your hours and record them for BSA and the Atlanta Area Council to track the good turns you're out there doing? How and when do you participate in Scouting's national effort: Scouting for Food? We have answers!

Upcoming Scout activities: GA Capitol, Porsche, orienteering

Posted on Feb 6 2017 - 3:03pm

Three unique field trips coming up for your Scouts! Orienteering at BASC on Feb. 26. Scout Day at the Georgia Capitol is March 1. This event will usually sell out and costs just $1 to register your Scout. Contact your school admin. to see if this counts as an excused absence (it often does). Porsche merit badge clinic (for Scouts and Venturers age 14+) will be March 18 AND 25 (2 part course) - and proceeds from registration fees support the Council's Campership fund!

Sea Base High Adventure Trek available for 3 Boy Scouts and 1 Adult

Posted on Jan 30 2017 - 3:06pm

Troop 846 (Button Gwinnett District - Duluth) is looking for 3 Boys Scouts and 1 adult who would be interested in joining them at BSA's Florida Sea Base, located in the Florida Keys.  The troop  was awarded the opportunity to send two 6-scout crews to BSA’s Florida Sea Base, and our adventure is the Coral Reef Sailing Adventure, which is a 7 day/6 night experience.  Our troop is filling 9 of the 12 available scout slots and have 3 leaders committed to the trip (all adult training for both crews completed; additional adult would only be required to have YPT).  Unfortunately, the other troop which was planning to join us recently pulled out of the trip, leaving our second boat missing 3 scouts and 1 adult.
