Adult Training Opportunities...

Posted on Apr 6 2017 - 9:05am

All Scout Units:

We have two Adult Training Opportunities Coming up within the next Month.

April 23 2-6pm  Cost : $5
Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters presented by the Button Gwinnett District, but anyone from anywhere may attend.  The course will provide Scoutmasters with the basic information and tools they need to lead successful Boy Scout troops.  This is also a good course for new parents and commitee members.  It goes over the role of adults in a troop.

This course is needed for any SM/ASM to be considered trained (needs  ITOLS too).  It is also a great course for parents and committee members.  It gives an overview of the adult roles in a troop.

May 5-7 Weekend Cost $25
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS or ITOLS) is for Boy Scout Troop Adult Leaders and Venturing Crew Adult Advisors, sponsored by the Button Gwinnett District, but anyone from anywhere may attend.  Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specifics this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Boy Scout Troops and Varsity Scout Teams, in order to be considered "trained".

This is the second course needed by SM/ASM to be considered trained.  It is also again a good course for anyone interested in how a troop functions and wants to learn some new outdoor skills.

Each year Scouting organizations place flags on the 18,000+ graves of U.S. military veterans in the Marietta National Cemetery on the Saturday morning of Memorial Weekend (May 27). This is a unique way to teach your scouts about Duty to Country.  All Scouting levels are welcome, including Cubs, Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Girl Scouts.
