Save the date: Sat, May 6 at a local park TBA.

All units and ages are welcome but we MUST have your RSVP no later than May 1 (this is required by Gwinnett Parks) - this needs to include appropriate adult supervision ratios. Memorial weekend flag placement

Each year Scouting organizations place flags on the 18,000+ graves of U.S. military veterans in the Marietta National Cemetery on the Saturday morning of Memorial Weekend (May 27). This is a unique way to teach your scouts about Duty to Country.  All Scouting levels are welcome, including Cubs, Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Girl Scouts.

District Committee Round Table Announcements

Posted on Feb 22 2017 - 11:42am

Each month at Round Table, the district committee makes brief announcements about events and news that are important to Button Gwinnett District Scouts and Leaders.  Recently, we started typing these announcements into a flyer each month that we hand out to all the Round Table attendees.  Starting this month, on the day after each Round Table, we'll be sending the Round Table Announcements flyer out to everyone who is registered on the district website.  The flyer for February is attached below as a pdf document.

2017 District AOL & Crossover ceremonies

Posted on Feb 16 2017 - 11:40pm

Arrow of Light/Crossover Ceremonies – March 4 & 18, 2017

The Tella Qualla Boundary Chapter of the Order of the Arrow will be conducting the AOL & Crossover ceremonies in the same fashion as last year.  Ceremony sessions will be scheduled between 10:00am and 5:00pm on the following Saturdays: March 4th and 18th.  Our location for these ceremonies on both dates will be Rogers Bridge Park in Duluth (4291 Rogers Bridge Road).  There are still some open slots available and reservations can be made through the following link: Arrow of Light Crossover

As these dates approach, we need to finalize our ceremony scheduling for all time slots, so we ask that any unit still wishing to make reservations do so by this Tuesday's Roundtable (2/21).

With that being said, we do encourage unit leaders to make plans to include this ceremony opportunity for your Arrow of Light Webelos or those Scouts that plan to continue their Scouting trail into the Boy Scout program.

Feb Roundtable is all about Training!

TRAINING TEAM NEEDS YOU

Join us as we help teach new Scout Leaders and parents the “whys” and “hows” of Scouting and to be more effective in their roles, through our quality training programs.

We have multiple programs throughout the year, from just a couple hours to overnights and weekends – and it takes a dedicated volunteer team to plan, promote, register, set up, deliver, and pack up everything.

Button Gwinnett Training Team has top notch ratings in the Atlanta and Southeast region for our successful, quality training programs and we strive for continued improvement in bringing more training to more leaders. We also have a lot of fun and enjoy great food!

Share your time and expertise and “pay it forward” by joining us for a few hours behind the scenes in logistics, or actual presentations, cooking, camping, and much more.

Our Team Needs:

Logistics – before, during and/or after course (can be different people)

Communications, Promotion and Registration and course check-in

Administrative – compile registrations, enter completions in database

Set up and Take down and pack up training site and gear

Excellent presenters to teach (or assist) subject modules or demonstrations

Quartermaster (or assist) for overnight and weekend courses

Transportation – help move gear, materials, etc to training site and return

Some of these would only take a few hours, some much more, but each would contribute greatly to the success of the training team. Help us deliver the promise of trained scout leaders to provide a quality, fun-filled program for our youth. Thank You.
