Scout Challenge 2019 - March 22-24, 2019 - Bert Adams Scout Camp

Posted on Feb 21 2019 - 11:08pm

Good afternoon Button Gwinnett Scouters!

Make Sure Your Troop Doesn't Miss Scout Challenge 2019

This is the major camporee that will take place at Bert Adams March 22 – 24, 2019.  It is going to have tons of unusual games that scouts will only get a chance to play at a camporee like this one.  (Jousting….   Giant Battleship…  plus favorites like Gaga pit, Human Foosball, Tomahawk throwing – and lots more!)  For most kids, this will be the biggest camporee that they will ever get a chance to attend – and this is one they won’t want to miss!

So – we need you to sign your troop up sooner rather than later so the Council can continue its planning for this event.  PLEASE join in to make this event great!  Graeme Payne ( Graeme.I.payne@gmail.com ) is the overall master for this event, our own BG Scouter - Dave Bone (davebone@me.com) is Program Chair, and Tina Kerr ( kerrtina770@yahoo.com ) is helping to coordinate activities and is signing up people who would like to host a game or activity.

Early sign up can get your unit lower rates and may even be able to get better parking!

Let’s make sure Button Gwinnett District is well represented!  Thanks to all who have already registered their unit AND have offered to run an activity!!!

More info and sign up is available here:

Updated Guide to Safe Scouting and YP Course

Posted on Feb 21 2019 - 11:07pm

The Guide to Safe Scouting has been updated and is now live as both a pdf for download (dated January 2019), or the HTML version. https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/toc/ On March 1, 2019, the online YP Course will be replaced with an updated version reflecting the updated Guide to Safe Scouting.

If you have started—but not completed—the current Y01 Youth Protection Training: You must complete the training by February 28th, or any progress you have made will not transfer, due to the new learning plan. Otherwise, you may simply start over with the new training plan on March 1, 2019.

If you HAVE already completed the current Y01 Youth Protection Training: You WILL NOT be affected. You DO NOT have to retake the training when the March 1, 2019 course is released.

Completions will not be recorded on my.scouting.org until you have completed all 3 modules and the certification test.

To print your completion certificate, return to my.scouting.org, select "Menu" then "My Dashboard." Your Youth Protection Training Certificate can be printed by selecting the printer icon in the "YPT Status" area.
