From the District Chair - Welcome Back!

Posted on Sep 5 2013 - 11:10pm

Button Gwinnett Scouters - Welcome Back! Can you believe that School has been back in session for almost a month now? It's hard to believe for sure. I was fortunate to see many of you at our Quarterly District Conference this past Tuesday night. We had a very well attended function with a number of units represented and participating in our planned breakout meetings.

Annoucing our new Program Chair - Tom Owens

Posted on Sep 5 2013 - 10:24pm

Button Gwinnett Scouters -

I hope all of you are doing well and that you had a great Labor Day holiday.

For those of you who were not able to attend our Quarterly District Conference on Tuesday night, I was thrilled to announce that Tom Owens recently was offered and accepted the position of Program Chair for our district.

Many of you know Tom even better than me. His experience and credentials are exemplary: (1) serving Troop 419 in numerous capacities (most recently as Scoutmaster), (2) his affiliation with the Order of the Arrow as a Vigil Honor member and as the coach for our Chapter's Brotherhood ceremony team, and (3) his experiences as both a participant and staff member for Wood Badge.

Flag Services Needed

Posted on Aug 15 2013 - 11:45am

On Saturday, September 15th there will be a large Mexican Independence Day Festival right in our backyard! The organizers are looking for 4-8 Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts or Venturing Scouts to help with the Closing Flag Ceremonies. The event will be held at Plaza Fiesta (4166 Buford Hwy, Atlanta, GA 30345) right near the Peachtree-Dekalb Airport. The Scouts will need to arrive at 4:30pm to rehearse and they should be finished in about an hour. Snacks and drinks will be provided. This event is a great opportunity to promote Scouting. Last year the event drew over 3,000 people from across Atlanta. If you are interested, the contact is a fellow Scouter Henry Molinet 404-661-8887.
