Unit Leaders and Unit Committee Chairs -
Hopefully your units are making plans for summer camp activities and there will be a number of you going to either Bert Adams or Woodruff.  For those that will be utilizing one of these two camps, I want to briefly touch on a subject that may affect some of your Scouts - and that is money, specifically funding for payment of camp fees.

Family financial difficulties should not stand in the way of any Scout being able to attend summer camp at either Atlanta area facility.  With that being said, most of you may be aware of the campership program sponsored by the Atlanta Area Council.  For those that do not know about this program, it is designed to assist Scouts and their families with AAC resident camping fees.  (See the attached form for more details and instructions.)

Starting in April, the Button Gwinnett District Roundtable will have a new location. Christ the King Lutheran Church (5575 Peachtree Parkway, Norcross, GA 30092) has graciously volunteered to host us for our monthly Roundtables. We will continue to meet on the 3^rd Tuesday of the Month at 7:30pm. By moving the monthly Roundtable to a slightly more centralized location, I hope to further increase participation by out units. I and the entire District volunteer staff is so appreciative for Christ Church Episcopal and Troop 26 for hosting us for so many years. Our March Roundtable will still be at Christ Church Episcopal, and I look forward to seeing each of you there.

Norcross Presbyterian Church has been kind enough to open their doors to our District and allow us to hold all of our Adult Training (BALOO, ITOLS, BSALT, OWLS) at their facility.

The area in the back of the church where we do the outdoor portion of the above training needs some TLC (Tender Loving Cleanup.)  There is a large pile of debris that needs to be removed along with a stage that had its roof collapse.
Time will be from 9 -2

I am looking for some Scout/Scouter volunteers to come out on Sat March 8th to help to a good turn for the church.

     Do you have what it takes to compete in the activities of the 2014 Spring Pow-Wow?  The Pow-Wow will take place at Bert Adams Scout Reservation the weekend of March 14 - 16.  It will feature areas of competition such as: Tug of War, Ultimate frisbee, shooting, climbing, mini-golf and more.  Also included will be ceremony evaluations, introductions to dance and drumming, construction of dance accessories & regalia and a campwide Pow-Wow on Saturday night as well as fellowship throughout the weekend.
     Deadline for registration is Wednesday, March 5 and can be completed at: www.aacegwa.org/registration.htm.  While you are at it, if you haven't paid your 2014 dues, please take the opportunity to do that as well.

Troop 251 out of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Norcross is hosting a Merit Badge Clinic on March 22nd! All of the information is on meritbadge.info.

The 14th Exploring Engineering Academy (EEA) will be held on the Georgia Institute of Technology campus from Sunday afternoon, June 1, 2014, through Friday evening, June 6, 2014, residing in Ga Tech dorms.  Applicants (male and female) must be at least 14 years old and have completed the 8th grade.  No previous Scouting experience is required for your application.  My personal guess is the program best serves rising 10th and 11th grade students with an interest in engineering, math, and/or science.

EEA is a joint effort of the Georgia Engineering Foundation and the Learning for Life Division of BSA.  There are two tracks for students, which I will call Traditional Engineering and STEM, that visit various firms or laboratories in the Atlanta area, or meet with Ga Tech and Emory professors or CDC researchers during the week to explore their uses of engineering, science, math, or technology.
