Friends of Scouting NEWS

The Button Gwinnett Friends of Scouting is the annual fund raising campaign to raise the operating funds necessary to provide a quality Scouting program in the Button Gwinnett area. This campaign is divided into two separate efforts: The Family Friends of Scouting, which solicits contributions from the Scouting families involved in the Button Gwinnett District, and the Community Friends of Scouting, which seeks contributions from business and community leaders in the Button Gwinnett area. On the Community side, a Golden Eagle Reception was held at the home of Kevin and Sheli Dunn on the evening of March 6, 2007. Over 20 community leaders were present, and were treated to outstanding hospitality as well as a presentation by Eagle Scout Zachary Guerin. The Golden Eagle Celebration was the kickoff for the Button Gwinnnett District Community Friends of Scouting (FOS) Campaign. Those present at the meeting made donations to the Community FOS that exceeded $25,000, making the Button Gwinnett District Golden Eagle Reception one of the most successful of its kind in the Atlanta Area Council.

On the Family side, the families of Scouts in the Button Gwinnett area have contributed to our successful campaign and we are happy to report that we have exceeded our goal, which demonstrates in hard dollars that the families of Scouts see this program as critical to their development.

We welcome support form the community to Scouting in the Button Gwinnett area. Please contact Scott Voorhees or Conrad Ciccotello if you wish to contribute to the successful development of the next generation of leaders in Gwinnett!

The Atlanta Area Council Friends of Scouting campaign has a target to raise $2,060,000 for 2007.  Friends of Scouting helps secure the operating funds needed by the Atlanta Area Council to provide the many services offered to support unit programs, such as training, insurance, program materials, advancement materials, camping facilities and programs, council and district activities, and much more.

Family contributors who invest $300 or more in the 2007 Friends of Scouting Campaign will receive a special edition "Obedient" collector's patch. A premiere Scouting program requires a significant investment. The Family Friends of Scouting program is extremely important to the success of our overall fundraising efforts because it shows the rest of the community how committed our members are to the Scouting program and serves as an example when asking for their support.

Workplace/Matching Gifts - Increase Your Boy Scout Support

Many corporations match gifts made by their employees to the Boy Scouts. Some companies even give financial contributions on behalf of the time you give as a volunteer.  Click here to view some companies who have historically matched their employee's generosity.  If you do not see your employer here, please don't assume they do not participate in the matching gifts program; check with your human resources department for more information. Please contact Jenna Crutchfield at jcrutchfield@atlantabsa.org, if you're aware of another matching gift company.
