2007-2008 Button Gwinnett District Rechartering

Thank you for volunteering to work with your Pack, Troop or Crew rechartering. If you have any questions about rechartering please feel free to contact your Unit Commissioner or Steve Rea, District Commissioner (770-622-2149).

Rechartering is an annual process whereas each Scout and each adult leader reregisters their continuing participation with the Boy Scouts of America. This process keeps your Scout’s records active the national BSA, critical for both program and administrative purposes.

Chartering is accomplished on the Internet. A tutorial is available here. To access the tutorial you will need your access code. These were handed out at the October Roundtable or e-mailed to your unit leader. If you need your access codes please contact Steve Rea.

If you are ready to begin rechartering, click here. Some quick tips on rechartering:

- If you have a boy not on the roster, please bring an original application to Recharter Saturday.

- If you have new adult leaders, please bring their original applications.

- On the internet rechartering, you will have an opportunity to pay by credit card. This is a big fake-out. It doesn’t work. Please bring checks to Recharter Saturday.

- The fees totals computed on the Internet Recharter do not include sales taxes. We will compute sales taxes at Recharter Saturday.

- Do not change a boys name in the Internet Recharter. This makes the system blow up. If Billy or Johnny now want to go by Bill or John, you need to reregister the boy.

- Rechartering registers the boy for the period beginning February 1st through January 31st of the following year.

Recharter Saturday will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on December 1st at Simpsonwood Conference and Retreat Center. It will be held in the Jennifer and Lindsey Davis Conference Room in the Gibson Lodge. This is the first multi-story building on the right after the chapel. Look for the signs. Wireless access is available. We will have some computers and laptops available. Many thanks to Michael Murphy-McCarthy, Pack 525 Treasurer for setting this up. Quality Unit 2007 determinations will be finalized at Recharter Saturday and 2008 commitments will be made. Any questions about this please let us know.
